sir, you need to check english and descriptive marks carefully, both should be divided by two and then add it your total score. Its 151 in actual.

aapne eng mein attempt kitne kiye the out of 50 getting 30 in such a hard eng section is a very tough job
ASH out of 50 i ve attempted just 22 questions which acc. to me were correct.
thus my score should b 22/50 jisko half krne par 11/25 hoga.bt in real my score is 15/25.ye extra 4 marks isliye mile h coz har ques zaruri ni hota ki 1 mark ka hi ho.n secondly at d back of the score card it is clearly mentioned dat diff. sessions ka difficulty level alag tha.so marks r given accordingly..
isliye hmre no.of attempts agar kam h n marks jyada to uska issue ni banana chaiye coz agar hmri shift me paper difficult aya hoga as compared 2 other shifts to hme no. jyada milenge.

no one has been awarded wid sm grace marks.its just dat ki alag-2 shift ka difficulty level alag tha.so marks r given according 2 d difficulty level.
also its nt necessary dat each ques carries 1 mark.marking scheme is never disclosed by d banks.so kisi ko b extra marks ni mile h..

Ekta,, except a few, none is capable of understanding what you want to convey to them about the scorecard and the standardized score. If someone is intelligent enough to go for the PO post, they should not have any difficulty understanding what you conveyed. So don’t waste your time and energy posting again & again the same thing. Be cool and calm, u get a decent score, hope you will be selected. I am waiting for my score…and thanks a lot for solving all my queries even before getting the score card.

What the hell, there is major mistake in PO result and marks when someone attempted only 120 questions and scored 151 marks. Some people did well in the exams but could not able to clear the exam.
Might be you are correct.
One of my friends got passed though he did not prepare for a single hour. He also got shocked after seeing his pass in the website.
Many of my friends have been preparing for 4 months, but they couldnot clear the exams.
We can’t figure it out where the problem is.

Y I tell this is, 2 of my friends took this exam for fun and scored more than 150. They had no idea whatsoever about the pattern, is there negative marking and still scored pass and got 151. And my other friends took up this exam seriously and hard to believe they could not clear with serious preparation. Where they went wrong? No one can answer for this?

like if topeer of any subject got 40/50 then that 40 will be converted to 50 and others marks will also standerdise on same basis as if some one got actual 20 in that so after standerdisation it will convert to 25 !!!

IBPS will declared the results and issue the score card for all such candidates who have crossed the minimum qualifying marks. The minimum qualifying marks will calculated based on formula Linear Conversion Method.
Now What is this Linear Conversion Method ?
Under this method the corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates will be converted into a single score i.e. known as Standardized Scores. This minimum score will be the sectional cutoff in each section of exam .
Each candidate will have to secure this minimum standardized score in order to qualify in the each section of written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks.In general this will be your SCORE CARD.
Standardized Scores will be based on the CutOff points which will be decided on the national average i.e.
(National Average – ¼ Standard Deviation for General category candidates and National Average – ¾ Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates).
National Average : total Number of candidates appear in the exam for CWE nation wise and Standard deviation is the square root of mean of all the candidates who qualified the minimum marks.
IBPS will print the Score Cards for each of the qualifying candidates and will send the same by Registered/ Speed post to each candidate at the correspondence address specified in his/ her online application.
Validity of IBPS CWE 2011 Score Card: Score Cards issued by IBPS will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the Score Card.

Now many of the candidates have requested the query related to recruitment of the PO by various banks through this IBPS Scorecard. What would be the procedure for recruitment by PSU Banks and How would they come to know that whether their score are eligible for the various Bank’s criteria or not ?
Based on the information provided , I have summarized the procedure to follow by the various Public Sector Banks while recruiting the candidates based on the CWE scorecard.
IBPS scorecard for qualifying candidates in CWE will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the scorecards. This scorecard will be pre-requisite for candidates to apply for officers in the participating banks.
Steps to follow by the banks
1. Each bank desires to recruit candidates in officer cadre i.e. in PO will advertise for the vacancy with various eligibility.
2. In the advertisement for Job vacancy , Bank itself defined the UP TO SCALE – it means the top and bottom rank of the candidates , who can apply. Like for e.g. All candidates with score between 151-168 are eligible to apply for Syndicate bank.
3. The participant banks Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank and Vijaya Bank .
4. There may be chances that the procedure for recruitment on the basis of scorecard of different PSB may vary. Each Public Sector Bank is independent to advertise a separate recruitment notification.
5. Each participating public sector bank will be able to go through the shortlisting individually based on their own selection process such as group discussion or interviews etc.
It is also heard that Once the candidate would selected for the particular bank and he/she accepted the offer for the particular bank, his/her scorecard will be seized by the bank and he/she would not be allowed to sit in the other interview or selection procedure for another bank.

But i personally believe that instead of loosing hearts bcoz of low scores u should concentrate more on ur preparation for interviews. there is still lot of scope in banking sector. upcoming 5 years are filled with lots of banking oppurtunity more than 7.5 lakh banking personnel are to be recruited bcoz of heavy retirements n increasing number of branches..
moreover this ibps cwe is a kind of test on the line of CAT and GMAT which tell the banks that the candidate has qualified and can compete on the basis of scores..

They hv converted the equated scores into the standrizd score on the basis of linear transformation method just like AIMA does in MAT… if nyone has the MAT score card, just check that… The picture will clear… These are the percnetial not percent… According to it for ex my composite score is 180 so my percential is 72 which means there are 28 percent candidates who secure marks more than me.. i hope its clear to most..

It might be possible that some of the banks will consider only those candidates who have scored more than 65 % Through out…10th 12th and graduation and 55% for the Reserved catgry..

yes it is given on the score card that marks will be converted into out of 50 marks through the linear transformation and surely they will consider outof 50 marks only…….so consider ur mark as 26/50.

It appears that some of the bank PO aspirants want to know more about the cut off marks in the incoming IBPS test. The IBPS in its guidebook mentions in section G that:-
“Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each of the tests to qualify in the written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks. The cut-off points will be decided based on the average (Average – ¼ Standard Deviation for General category candidates and Average – ¾ Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates).”
For those who want to know how it actually works please go through below. Ideally it should work like this.
At first let me tell something about standard deviation; it shows how much diversion is there from the average value. It is calculated in this way; let us consider scores like 12, 11, 15 and 14. The average as you can easily calculate is 13.
1. Now, subtract the average from each number and square it. Like (12-13)2 , which is 1.
2. This way you would get 1, 4, 1, and 4; now find their average (which is 2.5) and simply find the square root, which is the standard deviation. In this case average is 2.5 and standard deviation will be 1.58.
So in this way let’s say for example there are 20 candidates securing these marks in English out of 50. The standard deviation comes to 8.54 and average 25.9. Now putting in these values we get the General Candidates cut off to be 23.05 and Reserved Category Candidates cut-off to be 19.49. Considering everyone belongs to general category, the green ones indicate the successful candidates.

m working with PNB for last 17 months
my younger bro got the scorecard and his score is 198…but wen i asked him did he expected…he was spellbound and very politely replied thathe was not expecting 44 marks in english(managed to attempt on 34-36 q)….he was expecting about 160+…but getting 198 is like…santas gift..donno how have been ur marks calculated…ny way best of lucks to you all guys

Hey, all of you guys/gals, Please correct me I m wrong. If a candidate got Total Standard weighted score of 150 out of 250 that means he got SIXTY PERCENTILE not Percentages, though they are different. That means he is above 60% passed candidates.
In IBPS, passed candidates are 1,10,000 then the above said candidate would be in the FIRST 40,000 passed candidates, Correct me if I am Wrong?

Sandeep u may be ri8 but wht i think is they have not given percentile they just weighted the score means if 1 get 40 in maths that is highest than they make it 50 so there is no one who ll get full marks bcoze 1 can be gud at 1 or 2 areas not in all 5 so in this way calculation is done this is done bcose to remove the parciality between two timings and to gave marks acc. to difficluty level of marks.

All those IBPS participants who haven’t received their scorecard no need to panic. You will receive the same in upcoming days. The only thing that can be done is to trace the packet via number which you have been sent on your respective e mail ID’.
Regarding the cutoffs- This exam has took place for the first time so you will come to know form the banks itself or if someone from IBPS itself tells you the cutoffs. I think most of the participants on this forum are participants like you and me so getting exact information is a little bit tough job.
Just be optimistic and cheers!!!!

well everybody is giving their total weighted score but they are not thinking about what graduation criteria each bank will be putting up in their notification…as it was not meintioned in ibps advertisement but it will be surely in bank’s notifications….i think it varies between 55-60%….
moreover it might be possible that bank will also fix a minimum cut off in each and everm section…
1 more thing to obsreve that if we consider 1000 vacancies for each bank and considering 1:5 ratio for interview than only frst 10k students will be called up….then for next bank it may go upto 11k as 1k will get selected with the frst bank…similarly calculating for other 19 banks ..it may only go upto first 20k candidates….give it a thought guys……and do reply with ur valuable comments

u will definitely get a call frm more than 4 banks..rest assured..but tak care of ur interview as..25% weightage wd be on dat on final merit list..so better grab some key books and update urself wid hanges and basics of indian bankin industry and its challenges..

The IBPS will use Linear Conversion Method to convert the score of each candidate (after factoring with negative marks, if any) into a standardized score. The IBPS Common Written Exam (CWE) for Probationary Officers(PO) concluded in two sessions on 18th September 2011. Hence we are discussing the cutoff marks in each paper and for overall exam for morning session and evening session. The Cutoff Score generally depends on the following items.
(1) The average marks in each paper at National Level.
(2) The total number of candidates appeared to the examination.
(3) The relative difficulty/easiness of each paper.
The experts (Various Institute Directors and Senior faculty) expressed their opinion on CUT OFF MARKS as follows. Cutoff Marks are very important as IBPS issue score cards only to those candidates who qualify in each paper.

(2) English Language 12-18 marks
(3) Quantitative Aptitude 21-26 marks

A Common Written Examination (CWE) will be conducted on 11/03/2012 by the IBPS as a pre-requisites for selection of personnel for Specialist Officers Cadre posts in the following 19 Public Sector Banks.

Those will be successful in the Common Written Exam (CWE) will be given a scorecard (Like CAT exam of IIM) and may apply to any of the participating bank when they come up with their job vacancy and then these successful candidates have quote their personal details and their CWE scores.
Each of the bank will issue individual recruitment notifications, details of vacancies, eligibility criteria etc. separately.

Total is 199.. out of 300
amazed why would be POs are not able to understand result.. just flip ur score card and find out the calculation method.
union bank ne bhi vacancy nikaal di hai, 2473 po ki post hai, aur graduation me 55% maanga hai..
ya i have seen that dear bt very disapponted because all bank will have independent selection process the first few rank holder gave interview in all banks still problem remain same. not happy atall.

all you know that there are vacancies in Union bank ,Syndicate bank and Corporation bank. I have filled for the union bank and confusd for rest of both.As you know thes two banks have their almost branches in south india and I want my job in North india… so please tell me guys after considering all the things that should i apply for these two banks or should i wait for the vacancies od PNB, BOB etc. who have their branches in north india…..

it means dat d topper of each section will be given 50 marks nd other persons marks wil be accordingly adjusted. eg suppose d overall topper in QA hav got 30 marks then his standerdised marks will be 50 nd a person who has scored 24 in QA will be given a standerdised score of 24*50/30 = 40 marks

@ash bhai in today scenario written marks does not matter at all bcoz bank is now fail to candidate in Interview even they have good marks in written. i have also face this situation. i filled RTI of Indian Bank PO. Number of Last candidate who became PO in india bank is less than me. bank failed me in interview just 0.45 marks. so now interview is most important factor to decide merit for becoming po in any bank.

u r very true bcoz same thing happened in BOB interview the candidates who got 52 and 125 rank had not found the place in final merit list……so i am giving advice to all who got decent mark should be down to earth and prepare well for interview …do not be overconfident….
